![]() ![]() 200-300 cycles after 5-minutes and then rock-solid at 30 min mark. Reason? The balanced modulator sort of "drifts in" to balance as components come up to temp. Main thing to note is that these should never be set until the rig has been on 45-min to an hour. Great carrier suppression if you adjust the balanced modulator every so-often. Found a pristine GSB-100 with not a scratch on it and OMG, what memories - and what a fine rig! Now, age almost 70, I finally got around to it. I knew at some point I'd have to get me this rig. I helped him (more coffee, Norb?) and that was IT. on his roof on a squatty 12 foot mini tower. They took the place of expensive variable caps and bridge circuits to make SIMPLE Pout metering.1964, my elmer W7IMF (SK) was working phone patches with a drake 2b, GSB-100, and a Johnson Courier amp. ![]() Red wire goes to TX out on ant relay (or anywhere else RF Out can be measured AFTER the tank circuit), white wire goes to the metering circuit.Ĭlip enough of the 'gimmick' cap off to get full scale deflection at Pout Max. Take two wires, red and white for clarity, and twist them about 5 TPI, about 3/4 to an inch long.ĭo NOT connect any part of the gimick to short. IIRC on the 201 I rebuilt for a friend, the gimmick (and on most any amplifier / transmitter of the age) is nothing more than twisted pair. ![]() What did you use on your Gonset GSB-201 meter circuit? ![]() What is the Gimmick Cap? The former owner wired directly to output at Ant Relay Can I make one? Will it work wired directly? Trying to preserve original meter circuits. Although the new filter caps are under the deck, the seperate transformers (plate & filament w/CT) resembl original layout of inductor next to stock transformer. I kept the Tune/Operate resistor and pi network so RF deck still appears original. Derb, I hope you enjoyed the GSB-201 jpegs from last Spring. ![]()
